In a column this morning lauding the value that can be found in inexpensive red wines from the Douro region (“Harbour in an Economic Tempest”), Eric Asimov found our Lavradores de Feitoria to be “pretty, winsome,” “delicate and engaging” with “lovely, spicy, floral fruit.” Though we’re still not sure whether Eric wants to drink the wine or set it up with a friend, all in all, not a bad review of a $12 wine (less with case discount). And at least he didn’t say the wine was “nice.”
If you have an extra $6.75 and want a wine from the same region and producer that has a bit more length on the palate, both the Manhattan and Brooklyn stores carry Lavradores de Feitoria Tres Bagos 2005.
